     Nadine Stansberry, age 96, of Lamar, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Truman Healthcare Center.

     Nadine was born September 1, 1920, in Kenoma, Missouri, one of the six children of Lester and Fern (Nall) Harris.  On August 24, 1940, at Lamar, she married Clark Stansberry and they made their home and raised their four children in Barton County.  Clark preceded her in death June 2, 1981.  Nadine was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Tom Stansberry, a granddaughter, Robyn Lowery; two brothers, Leland and George Harris; and a sister, Leta Belle Moore.

     In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her own family, Nadine was a nurturing child care provider in Lamar for ten years and will be remembered as “Grandma” to a large number of children.  She had been a member of Mt Carmel Methodist Church and was active in Lamar United Methodist Church after moving to town.

     Survivors include her children, Patty (Bob) Lowery, Nevada, Missouri, Bruce (Laverne) Stansberry, Independence, Missouri, and Suzanne (Jim) Wirth, Lamar.  Nadine raised two of her nine grandchildren, Paige (Scott) Zahorik and Jason (Rachel) Stansberry and was affectionately known as Grammy to Kirk Lowery, Becky Lowery, Brittany Stansberry, Brian Wirth, Michael (Jeni) Wirth, Christopher Stansberry, Nicholas Stansberry, and 15 great-grandchildren.  She leaves a brother, Gene (Opal) Harris, Golden City, Missouri; a sister, Dorothy (Wesley) Wirth, Golden City; a sister-in-law, Jonnie Harris, Jasper, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.

     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 3rd, at Daniel Funeral Home followed by burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

     Memorial contributions are suggested to Lamar United Methodist Church.

So sorry to hear of Nadine's passing. Remembering many good times at Mt. Carmel church with her and her family. She will be missed.

Nadine and I became friends when we were both babysitters. We compared a lot of notes. She never lost her sense of humor, as I found out when we got her to play bingo at Truman. Always a fun person. She will be missed by all her friends and family.

Dear Suzanne, Paige, Jason and Nadine's family,
Just saw the announcement on Daniel's sign......we appreciated Nadine so much for her love and care for our children, Kelsey and Caleb....she even came to the hospital when Caleb was born to see what see was getting into....:-)....We love you Nadine...and always will be a part of our family.
